Wallabies: Lose world cup chance and coach

A crushing 40 – 16 loss to England in the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals has knocked Australia out of the Rugby World Cup. The convincing English victory also brought about the end of Michael Cheika’s time as head coach of the Wallabies, with the coach quitting his position less than 24 hours after the defeat.

World Cup 9’s: Highs and Lows

The inaugural rugby league World Cup 9’s brought a carnival like atmosphere to BankWest Stadium. Over two jam packed days of rugby league action the Australian Men’s and Women’s teams dominated their opponents. The Kangaroos secured the men’s world title with a 24 – 10 win over New Zealand. But the women’s final was claimed by the New Zealanders in an upset 17 – 15 win over the Jillaroos.

Diamonds Lose Netball Lustre

Australia has lost the third test in the trans-tasman Constellation Cup series. The Diamonds jumped out to an early six goal lead before the Silver Ferns over ran the Aussies to claim a 54 – 53 victory. The fourth and final game with be held in Perth on October 27th
