The Future of Sydney’s Music scene is West

The best music is coming from Sydney’s next hub, Western Sydney. Meet the artist whose Sophmore EP had made waves across Australia, LOVER.

‘Rookie Era’, released earlier this month, has shown the world the future of Australian music.

Lunchtime announcer Lu had the opportunity to catch up with LOVER and about the EP and Western Sydney’s massive music scene.

“It’s crazy how many artists are popping up out of the scene and receiving a lot of love nationally and internationally as well”

He refers to artists like The Kid Laroi who went platinum twice in the US with his hit Stay (ft. Justin Bieber). There is also Mt. Druitt’s OneFour, a group without a major label backing who takes their experiences of living in the west, Aussie slang, and their accents around the world.

Western Sydney Legends, OneFour

“Western Sydney has a really good community of lifting people up. Having friends to put you in the right rooms and meet the right people… western Sydney does that really well.”

LOVER said that Australia has a lot to learn from Western Australia and the large number of talented musicians coming out of there.

“That mentality can take Australian music even further”
