Covid-19 impacted every single person in the world this year. People have lost their jobs, lifestyle, and even lives since the pandemic and one of the things that has helped give people a little bit of normality is watching sport.
One of the most popular sports world wide is football, (with a round ball). The 2019/20 English Premier League season was put on hold for 3 months do the the rise in numbers of Covid-19 across the UK, making fans question if they season would even finish.
The British government eventually allowed the season to finish however football fans weren’t allowed into the stadiums to support their teams meaning Liverpool Football Club ended their 30 year wait to become champions in front of an empty stadium.
The 2020/21 season has now started but still without fans in stadiums, but this week there is a break from the usual league fixtures for international friendlies.
Considering Covid-19 numbers across Europe are rising, a question a lot of people are asking is, should these games even be going ahead considering they are only friendly games.
Champions Liverpool currently have four players tested positive meaning they won’t travel to play with their national sides. The worry now will be returning players and hoping they remain negative.
