Road To The NFL on hold For Sydney’s West

Fancy having a crack at becoming the next Aussie to play in the NFL or just wanted to get behind local American Football?

Sadly for Western Sydney’s three clubs, the 2021 New South Wales Gridiron League season was cancelled after uncertainty during covid-19 lockdown.

The sport’s state governing body Gridiron NSW, called off the season in August just days before the NFL’s preseason began.

The three teams in Sydney’s west – Western Sydney Pirates, Nepean Ducks, and Central West Giants will have an extended off season sadly.

The Pirates field a mens team and play in Austral, the Giants have a womens side and play home games in Greystanes while the Ducks mens and womens sides play in Penrith.

Whilst the season may have been called off, it gives you the chance to hone your skills before inquiring for season 2022.

Australia currently has six players on active NFL team rosters, two of which have played with teams in Australia.
