The NRL grand final is going nowhere!
The NRL has secured a deal worth more than $15 million which will see Sydney host the NRL grand final for the next 27 years.
Queensland were very keen to get the event to Brisbane, with Melbourne and Perth also showing an interest, however the NRL-NSW government deal proved more lucrative.
Despite NRL boss Tod Greenberg conceding that the game-day experience was inferior to other purpose-built rectangular stadiums, the grand final is locked in at the SCG for the next 2 years while ANZ and Allianz are being upgraded. It will move to Allianz in 2022, then move back to ANZ in 2023.
So just like state of origin, Queensland have lost something else. How good!
