France is preparing the expel migrants on a religious extremism government watch list, a police union source told Europe 1.
It follows the murder of history teacher Samuel Paty in Paris.
The Russian-born Islamist teenager – who had refugee status – asked students to identify him before beheading the teacher.
It’s believed the suspect targeted Mr Paty after he showed students a depiction of the prophet Mohammed.
French Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin ordered the expulsions in a meeting with local prefects at the weekend.
180 of the suspects are already in prison, with a further 51 due to be arrested.
In France the definition of extremism is “people who, engaged in a process of radicalisation, are likely to want to go abroad to join terrorist groups or take part in terrorist activities.”
