The rivalry between Australia and New Zealand continues as the Constellation Cup series was levelled last night. The Australian Diamonds put their bodies on the line in a tough match to beat the Silver Ferns 48-42 in Auckland.
The Constellation Cup is an annual contest between the Diamonds and the Silver Ferns that began in 2010. New Zealand has only won one series in 2012, so they’ll be looking to claim their second cup this year.
Last night’s game was the perfect way to celebrate Diamond coach, Lisa Alexander’s 100th match. Australia’s goal keeper, Courtney Bruce, had an incredible game up against New Zealand’s star shooter, Maria Folau, that saw her win Player of the Match.
The teams will go into battle again in game three of the series on Sunday at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
